What is your mission?
Our mission is to partner with each family by engaging the mind through academic excellence and biblical values, cultivating the heart through spiritual emphasis, and acting in service to God and others.

Are you accredited?
Emmanuel Christian Academy is in the process of obtaining accreditation through NEASC, New England Association of Schools and Colleges.

What is included in your academic program?
The academic program at ECA is based on accelerated curriculum, and we offer Honors classes and select AP classes. We also offer Dual Enrollment classes, both on campus and online, through several Christian colleges and local community colleges. In addition, membership into the National Christian Honor Society is available to qualifying students.

What classes do you offer?
In addition to an unwavering focus on English and Math, our students receive a well-rounded education in history, science, Spanish, physical education through the 8th grade, handbells, choir, life skills, and computer courses covering app development, robotics, typing, programming, coding, web design and the Google Education suite. Elementary classes emphasize the core curriculum along with offering an exposure to Spanish, computer, physical education, art, and elementary handbells and choir.

What is the average class size?
The average size of each class is 20 students with an overall student-teacher ratio of 13:1.

What grades are available?
Grades K4 through 12 are offered.

What are the qualifications of your staff?
Our teaching staff has over 150 years of educational experience, with a passion for education. All of our teachers are faithful Christians committed to creating a loving environment for your child.

Do you integrate technology into your classrooms?
ECA recognizes the need of technology integration in the classroom both for teaching instruction and student use. Our classrooms are equipped with various technology features, including laptops and iPads, smart TVs, and Apple hardware. We believe that each student should be prepared to function in an increasingly technological economy. Our students are taught to use technology responsibly and with the intention of improving the world around them.

What curriculums do you use?
We use a combination of Abeka Books and Bob Jones University Press in elementary classes. Our secondary classes do an annual summer review of the best curricula and teaching methods to develop our students in biblical values and academic excellence. Curriculum at the secondary level includes Bob Jones University Press, Abeka Books, All Things Algebra, Summit Ministries, and more.

What are the graduation requirements?
Graduates of Emmanuel Christian Academy have fulfilled all requirements set by the State of Connecticut for a college preparatory diploma.

Is your campus secure?
We maintain locked doors, utilize video cameras, and practice security drills to provide a secure and safe learning environment for your child.

What is the admissions process?
To be admitted, one must submit an application, take a placement test, and meet with a member of the administration. In addition, all medical and academic records must be sent to the school prior to attendance.

What is the cut-off date for kindergarten?
Starting in 2024, all students entering K4 must be 4 by October 31st. If your child is five years old on or before the first of January of any given year, he or she can enter kindergarten.

Do you require a uniform?
Yes, we do require a uniform. We hope our dress code (institutional preference) teaches our students principles of modesty and professional appearance in order to prepare them to enter the workforce.

Does your school offer special education services?
We do not offer special education services; however, minor classroom modifications can be made for students with a mild IEP or 504 Plan.

Are you involved in fine arts?
All secondary students are invited to compete in our ECA Fine Arts Competition in categories including public speaking, writing, art, media, drama, and vocal performance.

What sports are included in your program?
ECA is a member of the New England Association of Christian Schools. Grades 6–12 can participate in soccer, volleyball, basketball, flag football, and cross country. Grades 3-5 can participate in soccer and basketball.

Do you offer after school care and before school care?
After care is offered through 5:30 p.m. Early care is offered by request through the ECA office beginning at 7:00 a.m. School doors open at 7:45 a.m. for regular morning drop-off.

Do you have a lunch program?
We do offer a hot lunch program, including chicken quesadillas, buffalo chicken wraps, French toast, pizza, and more. We also offer salads, a variety of snacks, and microwavable foods. Students may bring their lunches from home and utilize the microwaves.

Are scholarships available?
Parents with children between K5 and 5th grade who are residents of Hartford or East Hartford may qualify for a CEO (Children’s Educational Opportunity) scholarship of up to $2,100 per year, per student. CEO provides $900,000 in scholarships each year for students to attend private school. Please contact CEO directly if you would like more information about this program.
